Have you tried Fast User Switching? I can't say 100% if it's available on the server edition, but it would be in System Preferences > Accounts > Login Options.

I currently have a 2010 MBP C2D 8GB of ram and it's slowing down for day to day tasks (and the hard drive is about to fail) especially handbrake and fps when gaming. I read a lot of PDF files for work and present keynotes slides basic photo video editing etc. When at home I play windows only games as well as work in Linux via parallels 6. I was planning on selling the MBP getting an iPad to read PDFs in iBook and read notes I take in evernote. Get a 1.8ghz 4GB ram MacBook air for notes quick editing showing presentations and some windows and Linux work in virtualization and getting a new iMac for intensive editing handbrake and virtualized gaming (games are strategy somewhat CPU intensive not too graphic intensive). The only thing I can't decide on is what iMac to get is the 27 inch worth it? Is there a big difference between the base and 1499 modol that would be very noticeable for me? I would like to keep these for four years or more but haven't had very good luck with that lately.

Hi there,
I recently reinstalled my Mac, but I forgot to backup and now I need a very important file that I deleted because I ereased the whole disk. Is there a way to get it back? I have no Time Machine backup, but it's really important.
If it is important you can get it off a backup. If there is no backup, it's not important. If your having trouble with your backup maybe we can help you.

On my MBP, I have replaced my Toshiba 750GB HD, with an Intel 250GB SSD drive. Before that I had Parallels and Win 7 on my Toshiba and assigned about 140GB out of 750GB for Windows 7. Now I intend to use my Toshiba as an external HD with a Macally FireWire 800 Storage Enclosure.
My question: When I connect the external Toshiba to my MBP for the first time, will I be able to remove the 140GB partition with Disk Utility? Will Disk Utility recognize that partition that was used by Windows with Parallels? How do I get rid of that partition, so that I can use the whole space for backup?

Had to "steal" the basis for this one from Will Cheyney (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=167660).
But I had expand it seriously. All nerds know that using ones hand to count to 5 is just not good use of resources. So redundant. Why not count all the way from 0 to 31 with that same hand...? Of course with 2 hands I could have kept on going all the way to 1023, but that would be a bit boring eventually, wouldn't it? :D
It's like the (good) old joke: There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't. ;)
A small note: The 'tar should have been transparent, but ImageReady (CS) doesn't render it properly. Don't know how to get rid of some slicing and some tweens that have gotten into the animation, and after a long night trying and failing, I'm on the verge of giving up on transparency... :( :o
Disclaimer: Those easily offended should avert their eyes when the hand gets to 4 (and maybe also 5)... :D

There's always Home-sharing if you update your iPad1 to iOS 4.3.1. You can then stream music to your iPad1 from any other iOS device that are home-shared.

Sound really good, thanks for your answers guys!
This will be my first Mac, so cant wait till i get my hands on this Imac.. Is there any advantages buying it directly from Apple?
Or is it just as good to buy it from some Reseller ?
Thanks

you will need to get an airport extreme, which has one WAN and three LAN ports, to do what you want.

What about object styles? Set it up so that the style applies to the contained text only.
Ok, it won't do it by auto scaling but you could set up a range of styles with different options / dropshadow sizes etc. Then apply the relevant one depending on what size it's scaled to.

It's too bad it's so little, but chopping out too many frames made it look too.. well.. choppy. I opted for tiny and "smooth", over large and choppy.

Unfortunately not. Those are all 14(.2 I think)mm height and will not fit in a MBP.
Ok, thanks. I guess 5400 isn't so bad, got a 750GB one in here now.

I realize that there are so many different ways to crunch WUs but when I was just curious to see how the team was doing I scrolled to the bottom and worked my way up and saw some very unusual numbers. What follows are the ones I thought stood out as very odd indeed: (rank, name, points, WUs completed)
#1807 jmlloyd 0 12
#1806 ArchistudentG5 0 86
#1805 ARCHstudent 0 14
#1774 (really out there) Lalso_Panaflex 2 2518
#1771 libertforall 3 30
#1542 Skunkworker 52 262
#1161 wbrowne1 308 468
#604 micah 3717 34887
I don't really understand what circumstances could prevail that would cause so few points from so many Work Units

It was posted 4-5 days ago, I remember browsing it on a school computer but can't remember the title.
It was about how the iPhone displays the numbers on the battery percentage, and how when you have any number between 10 and 19, they appear un-symmetrical.
Plz and thank you!

Isn't this what you want to do?
I want to add a different boot logo, but it won't work. I think this has to do with deleting the file "animate", which gives the animated boot logo.

Hi,
There doesn't seem to be a natural place in these forums for discussing using Macs in science settings. What would people here think about broadening the remit of this group to 'Distributed computing and Science' or 'Macs in science settings' or whatever! (suggestions?). Any interest?
Regards, a.

Have you tried a soft reset? You can perform this by holding the home button and the lock button together for around ten seconds the Phoebe would automatically switch off and restart displaying the apple logo for around another 20 seconds, in normal cases that would resolve your issue if not I would try to restore the iPhone via iTunes.
Hope that helps.

Check in System Profiler which DVD formats your Superdrive can write to (and if you have a Superdrive rather than a Combo one). It's probably only DVD-Rs (my 1.25 PB is) so make sure that your DVDs aren't +Rs
Other than that, buy good quality blanks. Sometimes the cheaper ones don't always work.

You have to manually extract the drivers from BootCamp.msi or BootCamp64.msi. e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdgFlyjOnz8
