Applications were sent to NSC on July 19th' 2007. I got my receipt numbers today and all three numbers (I485, EAD & AP) start with WAC ### ### ####. The online status for the applications say that the 485 application was transfered to Texas Service Center and the EAD & AP applications were sent to Califorina Service Center.
Also just fyi, my I-140 app. is pending at NSC since Dec' 2006. So now I am all over the country :-)
Don't know its good or bad. Any idea anyone?
Is anyone else in a similar situation?

My I-94 was expired on 11/2006 and applied the EAD renewal(Ist EAD lost in Mail) through e-filing and it is approved.
Service Center: NSC
EAD Applied through online (E-File)

Notice Date: 04/28/2008
Called USCIS to Expediate the process: 04/29/2008
Biometrics & I-765 Received through Mail: 05/05/2008
Fingerprinting complete (Walk-In): 05/07/2008 (Actual Fingerprinting date from the notice: 05/22/2008)

You can file 485 only from within USA. So I believe you will be back to USA before filing 485.

I had the same issue and I didn't write down the receipt number and USCIS customer support wasn't helpful to get the number. Now I am stuck and can send the support document only after receiving notification mail.

You should just provide a valid reason for your case for the senator to help. All senators have direct lines to immigration offices. They can expedite your case and the results are astonishing.
My cousin left to india for an emergency and his AP was pending. Contacted senator and got it approved immediately in a day.
I also heard that one person got his 140 approved in a week. Not sure what reason he provided.
But senators are certainly helpful unlike Indian politicians.

This was already dicussed here in a seperate thread almost 3 weeks ago and everybody knows this is the face saving techniqu of Infosys by paying some not popular channels in USA. just to save from the CHOP SHOP thing.

You need to file a COS from H-4 to H-1B. You cannot work until the H-1B is approved, because you are not in H-1B status now and therefore cannot use H-1B portability rules. You will not be subject to the cap since you have held H-1B status withing the past 6 years, and presumably not used a full 6 years.
Whether your last employer or a new employer files for a new H-1B status for you, it is still a new filing and any prior filings are not relevant, except to show that you are not subject to the cap.
By the way - this might get more comments if posted in the Nonimmigrant Visa section of the forum.
