There are a few things that will determine the speed.
Type of cable, are you using at least a Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable? Have you tried swapping with another cable connected to a device that is connecting at gigabit?
Settings on the Mac, have you checked to see that its set to automatic?
What is it connecting to? A gigabit port or something different?

Hey guys, again I have too much junk laying around. Are these still worth anything? The boxes are all unopened, I have a bunch of boxes unopened similar to those, mostly ram and cables and stuff. Does anyone know if people buy this stuff? Or only 80's stuff is collectible? Thanks for any help!

A good illustration of why mirror lock-up mode can be useful for maximum sharpness.
What amazes me the most is how "jiggly" the aperture blades are as they close down. Almost as if they have not totally settled by the time the shutter curtains are in motion.
Is this the same one that has been going around for a couple of years, or a new one?

I looked the original up on YouTube and it was first posted in '09. It was new to me.

For your text ( #membershipcontent ), remove the "position: relative" and/or "left: 285px"
Think of relative positioning as a "nudge" -- the browser does most of the rendering and then moves any elements relatively positioned by the number of pixels you tell it. In your case, 285px on the left which bumps it to the right.
HTH,

Hi all,
Just wondering, you know those CD/DVD protectors they have so you won't scratch your discs? I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be, but I was just wondering, are they OK to use in the slot loading drives? Or is Apple not thrilled with these things...?
Thanks,
-John
Apple specifically states in the manuals to not use the clip on extenders that make a mini (4cm?) CD into a regular sized CD. The reason is that if the CD unclips the combination can easily jam in superdrive.
I noticed the clip on CD protectors the other day and I would expect that they have the same risk. As far as I know these protectors are relatively new and may not yet be on Apple's radar. But as a previous poster mentioned, the superdrive (and pretty much any slot loading drive) has tight tolerances so using anything that results in a thicker/different shape than a standard CD or anything that has the potential of coming loose from a CD should be avoided. (Technically you should not be using a CD with a stick-on label in a slot-loading drive.)

Hi, I've installed the Lion Developers Preview, all legit. It's working great and everything. But what happens when the grand master comes out? Can I install it over my existing Lion partition or do I have to delete both my Snow Leopard partition and my Lion preview one and do a clean install?
Cheers :) x
You will need to do a clean install. No upgrades from Lion DP2 to the final release.

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro.
My drive sometimes won't read discs, I've used it so much. I want to buy a new drive. My question is, do I get a blu ray drive(not BR burner) or get a regular DVD burner, like a superdrive.
The price difference seems to be about $40-$50. What benefit is there to having a blu ray drive. I don't think I'll ever watch a br movie from there. And I dont think I'll want to rip BRs either
Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks

Says RS/6000.
yeah, but so what?
afaik rs/6000 was a server line at ibm which was rebranded the pSeries some two years ago...but they did/do use ppc processors of various flavors.
what i see from this message is that this patch enables altivec support on the powerpc64 target of the linux64 build of gcc, so if you happen to have a 64-bit powerpc with altivec, try to compile it on your box.
anyway, this might be completly wrong, just trying to show my pov.

Look at LightWorks, I personally have not used it that much but many have said it is amazing AND FREE! (Like pro-level amzaing) Unless you want to go with the great but pricey alts like AVID Studio and Premiere/Encore/AE
PS: Don't use WMM, in my experience it has been awful
Depending on how far she wants to take it, it may be cheaper/less time consuming to find a cheap older Mac Tower and dump iMovie '05/'06 on it, and let her go with that... (G4/500+ CRT+Keyb+Mouse = about $50 and will run iMovie '05 under 10.3 just fine - much easier than trying to remote tech support a Windows App.)

Looks like a good start! I like the nice colors.
Not that it would make a huge difference, but you could reduce the height of contbg.jpg to 1px instead of 5px. It would reduce file size a tiny bit.
It's definitely not necessary, but it woudn't hurt either:D
I saw that file, but can't see it in the final document.
Are the drop shadows elements of a CSS style, or of an image?
Sorry, I am absolutely clueless (but eagerly learning) this stuff.

I was planning on going, but then I thought about it...once I get it, I'm gonna want to play it for a while.
Going to pick it up later in the day tomorrow or on the weekend.

Hi there, here is a question that I hope someone could help me out with.
I have a .mac account, which I**use for iChat access too.
When underway, I use iSight and a Powerbook G4.
If I want a second iSight camera (with account) for my Mac at home to be able to correspond (video chat) with my family, do I need a complete 2nd .Mac account , or is purchasing a second .Mac e-mail address sufficient, to gain access to iChat on the home Mac? Anyone any experience with this?
Cheers!

If you turn on Home Sharing, you can play anything in your iTunes library on your iPhone without syncing it first. Isn't that sorta the same idea?
Yes, I think Home Sharing is the only way to do that.

You are asking good questions - shows your keen to learn.
Yes you can run a client OS, but it also depends if you want to learn and have a situation in the home/business for a server.
Server is good for:
Central account management - eg: Roaming home folders
One central repository for various files

you could render in h.264 and wrap in mpeg4 instead. don't know about qt windows, but mac version needs a plugin (Perian for example) to play avi files.
never thought of dv as a delivery codec, regardless of the wrapper, but haven't messed with tape in some time.
Then he may have deleted Quicktime and now Windows Movie Maker has taken over and changed the default file opening so he can't open the others. seems to be a user error.
