Yeah, you're right about them doing it for free part.
I'm just frustrated that they might not release it for another few weeks. My ipod has been useless since I can't install a bunch of apps I need... that I can only install after a jailbreak. :(
Does anyone have any idea when they'll release an untethered one for 4.3?

Hey everybody, thanks for the help. You have answered my questions. I do have one more though. After I rip a CD, then put it on my ipod, and I delete the CD from my itunes memory, why is it that when I plug my ipod back in, that CD (and playlist) are gone from my ipod? I guess the question is: Once I rip a CD, do I have to keep it in itunes? Thanks

If you're like me & hate the noisy dorms, get a macbook so you can take it to the library to get your work done (and a set of headphones to block out the associated library noise.)

well what you should do is Set it up first just with 1000 base/t I think that should be plenty. In almost all cases you don't even use a full 1000 base/t line, as the hard drives are your limitation. So set it up with 1000 base/t then you can take a look at activity monitor and see if your getting close to maxing out a connection.

Hello there!
I bought a mac mini server last year for my small company and used it to share files with my associates. Recently I realized how wasted this server was for simple file sharing between three persons so I decided to sell it to someone who would use more of its abilities. However I think I made a big mistake while doing this.
Before handing the server to the buyer I copied all of the shared folders onto my iMac and then erased the HDD of the server. So far so good.
Now my problem is that I want to transfer those folders to my Mac Pro (via firewire and target disk mode) and the system won't let me do it; it gives me an error every time (-41). Moreover the usual time machine backup for my iMac stopped working since the files were transferred on it.
My suspicion is that permissions are doing this. I have hundreds of folders and files and on the server they had different permissions for different users. But this is just a guess...
So, how can I transfer the files on my new Mac Pro? I need them, they represent a full year of work!
Thanks for the help...

ok, so im searching the interwebz for a simple eSata to usb 3.0..
i have never seen the eSata on my laptop until today...as i search the web i try to locate eSata to usb 3.0 (because my external HD is usb 3.0) and have no luck..the internet is so saturated on how they compare and the new thunderbolt, that i cant find what i am looking for..:(
all i see is usb 3.0 to eSata...not eSata to usb 3.0...
(let me clarify: i have an eSata slot and want to be able to connect my usb 3.0 enabled HD to my computer to get faster speeds than the 2.0)
1. i have never used eSata and have no idea what it even is good for ( but i read its much like a usb)
and
2. is there such a thing as an adapter for this?
please help

Can anybody recommend a good iphone 4 case with a little pop out stand so you can prop up your phone while you watch videos? Thank you.

Yes it was functional, since I could always plug into computer.
Good news I guess, now its just stuck on the apple icon after I Deleted everything. The good news is I can't get into DFU mode, so the apple store rep will probably blame it on hardware.
You think they can detect if its a software problem if the phone doesn't show up on the store computer?! It cant enter DFU mode cause the power button is broken.
I like my odds.

It is ok with me of course, just wanted to know how the buyer could re-register it without letting me know it :)
Just a phone call to Apple does it.

I've come across my old N64 and now want to spruce it up ready to sell. I was looking at games, then suddenly realised, what format is it? So it's a fully Korean N64, I think it's made in Korea and definitely has Korean writing all over it. I've uploaded the image of the specs on the back:
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5252/5581585070_1fe09cc4b2.jpg
So does anyone know what format this will be? PAL, NTSC, or some other funny version?

The newest Rev C 2.0 GHz model uses the prosumer motherboard
which limits you to 4 GB RAM and 33MHz standard PCI expansion slots.
Many users are wary about the longevity of the water cooled 2.5, as well as the 2.7 Some were also having noise issues and they run pretty hot.
The best 2 current PowerMac options are the 2.3 NEW or
trying to catch a refurbished Rev B 2.0.
If Apple does upgrade the PowerMacs next week, consider the benefits
of any new features against the benefit of a great price on a 2.3
This would also trickle down to the refurbs as well, so you ight get a fantastic deal on a Rev B 2.0

Two blown up power supplies in the same computer tells me there is a bigger issue. I would start to suspect that there is a problem in the computer or the electricity from the wall socket.
Can you identify the actual part that blew up?
bingo! Do you have it on an UPS sometimes stepped sinewave ups devices can kill a power supply.

Kind might be an obvious question...But since it's spring and everything...Is the weather getting warmer in your area? This might explain subtle changes.

Blu-ray drives are problematic in the Mac Pro. Many reports of them constantly waking up the MP from sleep, or checking loudly for a disc every few minutes when there is none.
So even if they were the same price, I'd stay away from Blu if you don't need it.

Yes, I know you probably cant. But is there anywhere I could get a hole of a G5 Processor. I want to build one myself is possible. Also is there anywhere I should look for Power Mac's G5 used? They are all so exspensive on ebay for even used ones. I would love one if I could ever afford it.:(

AT&T is way better service in Knoxville then verizon, even with all these hills. My girlfriends verizon iPhone she got Monday is horrible in data speeds.
I disagree with that because I had a 3GS and the reception all around town was pathetic, and I made the switch to Verizon. I have not had any problems whatsoever. I picked up the Verizon 4 this morning and the data speeds are consistent with what I was pulling on my HTC Incredible, about 1.8 MBps(averaged).

Thought people might be interested in the performance of this tech. I just finished my brand new SB i7-2600k build. Here's the complete specs:
Lian Li PC-A05NB case
Intel i7-2600k @ 4.5GHz - Cooler Master Hyper 212+ CPU cooler (temps 30C idle, ~60 load)
AMD HD 6970
MSI P67A-GD55(B3) motherboard
G.Skill 8GB DDR3 1600
Corsair AX850 PSU
500GB WD Caviar Black SATAIII
2x 250GB WD Caviar Black SATAII RAID 0
Samsung Blu Ray Combo Drive
(Don't think I'm too crazy, some of these parts were scavenged from my [rather] old computer)
Now the good stuff, folding performance:
Used the PPD calc here: http://linuxforge.net/bonuscalc2.php
-SMP2
@ 4.4ghz
p6060
TPF: ~2 min 5 sec
PPD: 31026
@ 4.5ghz

TPF: ~26 min 0 sec
PPD: 46454
-GPU3 (HD 6970, stock speeds)
p5733 (core_11)
TPF: ~2 min 10 sec
PPD: Too loud...
Other benchmarks for fun:
