Sometimes Sigma lenses can have issues with different cameras because Nikon makes subtle changes to the way the camera talks to the lenses - changes that work fine with Nikon lenses but on occasion cause havok with third party lenses. If you contact Sigma, they should be able to tell you if an incompatibility between the lens and camera is indeed what is happening, and if so, they should be able to upgrade the processor in the lens (I'm not sure, but they may even do this at no cost).
If you compare the Nikon 18-50mm with the Sigma 18-50mm (your Sigma is the f/2.8 model, right?), then I'm guessing that the Sigma will be better. Compared with the more expensive Nikon 18-70mm zoom that is sold as a kit with the D70s, they're probably about the same (bear in mind that I don't really know, since I've only used the Nikon 18-70 personally). I don't abuse my lenses, so what the lens mount is made of matters relatively little. In many cases a metal lens mount may be a sign of better quality in other areas including image quality, so the dealer wasn't entirely full of it, but I would be wary if someone tried to sell me something other than what I wanted for that reason alone.

I asked IV core on what version of immigration bill they support because I and other people wanted to know since there are so many amendments to the current immigration bill and Now I log in to see , the thread is missing, why, my question was straight forward, again I am asking them on what form of immigration bill they support. I highly doubt In what they are doing looks like they are working for the benefit of them self. Thankyou! That's what I intend to do. We need to wait till we get the denial notice and then plan on MTR/Apeal. I am planning to consult more than one lawyer just to be safe. I just wanted to see if any of the forum members came across similar case.

For a long time, I have had this urge to be self employed but personal reasons and the immigration system was a deterrent factor for me in turning this into a reality. Now that I have an EAD, I would like to reexplore this idea and wanted to know if there are any entrepreneurial organizations that I could become a member of that will help me network with like minded people. I have heard of TiE and am getting to know more about this organization. If any of you are members, feedback on how it has helped you will help a lot of people planning to join. Are there any other clubs/orgs that help people like me can bounce ideas off of and help bring together like minded people under the same roof?

PS: I had plans of pursuing an MBA for the sole purpose of networking. Unfortunately, this is not something I can do at this point of time.
Why dont we start an entrepreneur thread here on IV. I know it does not go in line with IV's goals, I can set up a forum real quick and we can get a group going there.

I see. I thought it was your lawyer that sent all your documents. So do you actually have a lawyer?
My emloyer hired a law firm to do green card and the human resources does the H1B's. The firm just sent (before Agust 17th) my I-140 and I-485. I have pendind EAD. I really want to remain on H1B though.
I am so frustrated and do now what to do.
How long does this 'nunc-pro-tunk' take if it comes to that? Also Can I go back to school?

HI fellow members..
I duly filed for AP along with my my 485 in OCT 2007. They messed up the photos on the AP. They put my wife's photo on mine and vice versa. We asked for a correction and they interchanged the case nos on the AP issued.
So after 2 years they still have not given me a valid AP document. I refiled again last week.
I have to attend my sisters wedding in June this year. We are still maintaining our H1/H4 status. My H1 is valid till 2011.
Is it ok to leave the country without an AP and re-enter on H1.? I will have to apply for H1visa at the chennai consulate.
My lawyer advises me not to go without an AP. Not going is not an option for me. Has anyone here re-entered in H1 visa after stamping whiel their I485 is pending.
Im so tired of this immigration game. 0 Accountability. ..they told my lawyer they will not issue a correction to the wrong AP issued since it has already been approved till 2010 and I will have wait till 2010 to re-apply for correct AP and I cannot travel outside till 2010..do these people understand what they are doing ??

So my status doesnt change until my I 485 is approved- any idea how long that will take? My H 1B expires in Nov of 2007 should I get an extension? Thank you for your replies- Lisa

like many of you i am waiting to file my I-485. My attorney didn't file mine once news was out on july 2nd. and now i am going to india on 19th July as my mother is in serious condition and coming back on 3rd august.
If DHS/USCIS announce that we can file AOS in july, what are my options? can my attorney file my papers when i am in india?

I can file my 485 from outside the country ? I always thought that once I go out of the country i will have to refile my I140 and then 485 in consular processing.

Let's get some stats on how many employment-based green card applicants are from the state of California. Perhaps they are printed on a DOS, USCIS web site or report. I am sure the number is high (San Jose etc.)

the free ead/ap is based on the $1010 fee for 485..so if u file ur 485 now.. u r pretty much in the non free group
