Supposed to be a fresh shipment or something going on? :)
Regardless, I hope you folks have better experiences with yours than I've had with mine (and many other people as well).

Are you feeling the "shocks" when you rest your palms on the laptop, i.e., the area just under the keyboard and next to the trackpad? If so, I experience the same problem once in a while. It's probably just static electricity. Are you using a third-party power adapter? I find that I get these "shocks" when using my MacAlly adapter, but not with my Apple one. Possible explanation: the Apple one has a third prong at the end of its extension cord, which grounds the charge; the MacAlly, with its standard two-prong end, does not.
Hope this helps.

Hey folks, I have a couple questions if anyone can help!
1. I've been looking at Logic Studio in the education store for when i go to uni in september, is there any difference or limitations etc buying it through the education store? Its a huuugeee discount for there not to be some kind of differences....
and 2. I want a MIDI keyboard to use with it, and wondered if anyone can recommend a good one? budget is around 150 and id like one with full sized keys, minimum 4 octaves, low latency, velocity sensitive etc
I'm pretty sure logic is the same no matter how you buy it.
As for a MIDI controller. There is no shortage of cheap keyboards but I prefer one that can make it's own sound because many times I don't want to bother turning on a computer.

If you have to ask these type of questions, you should just use OS X client. You can still run a "server" with the client.

Is it just me, or am I seeing four different colors for four different headers?
yeah, but all of those forums are quite different from each other and maybe this justifies them having different colors, however, what makes the MBA thread so special from other mac computer categories like Mac Hardware, or Software or The iMac, or the MBP... wait, iMac doesnt have a location on the side bar, nor does the MBP... I guess that is why it is a different color-It is a subcategory of Mac Hardware.
problem solved, maybe:confused:
Edit:
however, this brings up the issue of: Why is the MBA worthy of a location on the side bar, but not the iMac, or MBP ect...?
hahaha

Okay, I'm in over my head. Look like I need to first learn about frames. Mods, you can lock or delete this thread. Sorry about that. I thought I was close to finishing. Little did I know!!

Not much of a "friend" at the price. I'd hate to see what he'd ask for it if you didn't know the guy.

Probably need to use sudo texteditor to open the file.
For web testing only, you are better off with MAMP.

If you are in the Finder, the "cut" option is disabled so because otherwise if you actually selected "cut", whatever file or application was selected would be removed from the window/desktop, and placed in the clipboard. That wouldn't be a good idea, as if you then cut or copied something else, the first item would be deleted for good.
However, if the selection in the Finder is the text of the name of a file or application, then you can "cut", as that's just affecting the name and not the actual file.
I hope I've been clear enough.
I guess Apple decided that allowing people to "cut" files and application's would be too risky. I tend to agree with them, if you want to trash something, there are better ways.

I have a Linksys WRT54GSv3 & Motorola SB6120 modem on Comcast.
For the past month my iPhone only get's 2 bars of wifi around the house and 1 in the garage and it always used to get 3 bars. Same with my iPad.
I had open NAT for xbox live setup and now it says moderate, yet I've never changed any settings.
I've tried rebooting both router and modem but it didn't seem to help.
Any suggestions?

That's a tough call and a personal decision involving the trade off between power and portability.
Which would bother you more:
-not having a computer with you during the occasional times you travel, or
-not having the power of the iMac the majority of the time, when you're at home?
Personally, I think sacrificing the power of the iMac just so I had a laptop for the infrequent times I travel would bother me more. I prefer to purchase the type of computer that I need the majority of the time.
Of course, this is only valid if the difference in power between the MBP and the iMac you're considering is significant enough to notice.

It kind of depends what you want to do.
There are really advanced topics, but there are also some simpler things.

Haven't actually read any of the books, but Dreamweaver usually comes with a great set of tutorials. Try those, and if the learning curve still is too steep, go for the Dreamweaver Bible (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0764543504/qid=1123025870/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/104-4406894-0006331?v=glance&s=books), The Missing Manual (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0596006314/qid=1123025847/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-4406894-0006331) or similar. :)
I'd definitely agree with this advice. And if you don't go for the tutorial that Dreamweaver generally offers, you can always google for resources. I'm sure if you learned the general stuff from the tutorial, you'd be fine getting around and then could separately look up the more difficult stuff you want to accomplish. But books are probably an easier option :)

Yesterday Safari went APE on me not wanting to re-open itself, just instantly crashing, and today it works, but I get this on nearly every other page.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5/audiogodz1/ScreenShot2011-05-03at15206PM.png
It is driving me insane. I am also having issue with Safari running very slowly with multiple tabs open and this is on my 2010 i5 quad so it should be smoking along.
Other experiencing this webpages reloading pop up? This might be the first time I have had to abandon Safari for Firefox as all I am doing is error reporting on this machine at this point.

All those things are possible with your everyday router. I prefer Linksys myself. Here (http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-E2000-Advanced-Wireless-N-Router/dp/B003B20F54/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303996267&sr=8-1) is a link to the one that I have. :) Note that the "newer version" that Amazon is mentioning is actually somewhat of a downgrade because the wired ports are only 10/100, not 10/100/1000.
The only thing that might come up with using this is the file sharing that you mentioned. With the Apple routers, you can plug a USB hard drive directly into the router and use it as a network drive. With the Linksys though, you can setup file sharing between the computers directly to accomplish the same thing.
