I purchased the peachpit press books intending to do the Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA 10.6) exams but havent had time to do so until now. From what iv'e read about discontinuing of xserve and apple looking to move away from this area is it really worth my time and money doing this certification anymore? I want some apple certification to my name. Im wondering if I should just do the Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) 10.6. its only one exam as opposed to four. Any advice would be appreciated thanks
Servers will STILL exist in the form of Mac Pro Server & Mac Mini Server on the hardware front, while Lion will also have a server. There are MANY OS X SL servers currently in use and will require on-going support before an unplanned indecisive progression to just quickly upgrade to Lion Server - I can think of a few in-house apps for some organizations that would slow the upgrade process.
still worth it to continue reading & studying. I will begin myself next week for the same book/course.

That does sound like you've recieved something already on its death bed.

I know Stanford said they update every 6 hours on their webpage, I was just wondering when I will get added to their list? I've been folding for around 5 days now and just finished my first WU about 3 hours ago. Should my stats already be there, or will they show up eventually? I'm not listed anywhere as far as I can tell, and I know I joined the right team (3446). Thanks :)

Seems like they just did a refresh on the mini not that long ago. Didn't they change the case and add HDMI?

I also did this.
One of the dumbest thing ever.
It was on 4.01 and sold it to friend who wanted it clean.
I did the all reset on the phone and it got stuck.
So am I screwed ?? Only way to get the phone is to restore it to the latest firmware ??
Anyway other options I have ???

Yes, of course. You are essentially asking if one computer can access files on another computer in the same network. This, obviously can be done very easily. The time capsule, will not store any of this information.
Now if you want to ask how this can be done or how this can be prevented, that will be determined by the security on the machines.

I'm sure this question has been beaten to hell by now, but why once more? I currently own a late 2008 15" C2D 2.4ghz 4gb 500gb HDD unibody that I bought as a refurb in early 2009. I'm in architecture grad school and use it for CAD/design work while at school and occasional gaming/web surfing while home. When at home, I do all CAD/design on the desktop.
Reasons I want to upgrade: Bootcamp CAD/Rendering is unbearable, gaming is okay but it gets super hot, and I can't stand a conventional HDD anymore after switching all my other computers over to SSD and i'd like to up the ram a little.
Option 1:
So I can sell the 2008 for about 1k and buy a 2011 refurb this summer for approx. 1.5k and then add a SSD for 150. So the upgrade will cost me $700 about.
Option 2:
Just upgrade to a SSD and add an additional 4gb of memory to the 2008 and make do until 2012, when I plan to upgrade to a MBA for portability since I wont be doing design anymore and can get by with a 13"
My question is, are the new i processors and graphics cards going to give me noticeable performance increases for my uses or will upgrading the 2008 solve the majority of my problems?

I am a complete novice when it comes to video. A friend and I bought the complete 24 Hours DVD series (Series 1 and 2) and my friend ripped the whole series to what I assume is the standard DVD format (e.g. 24_SEASON_1-DISK_1, with both AUDIO_TS and Video_TS subfolders, but the audio subfolders are empty). The whole series takes up 100GB! of space that I do not have on my older MBP (my friend has a Mac Pro with 4 HDs so he is not concerned about the space issue). Can someone advise me as to how to convert these to a more compact yet fairly high quality format? I tried using my copy of WinX HD Video Converter for Mac, but it only allows me to get separate mp4 files (other formats available too) for each segment in the video subfolder, e.g. VTS_01_0.VOB, etc., up to VTS_01_5.VOB and the whole series would be too cumbersome having it split up like that.
As I have no experience in this field I don't know which software would be best for this, or how to go about it. Any advice appreciated.

So I bought an iBook G4 1.07GHZ, early 2004 model 12" off ebay. After a day or two, the screen started randomly turning off, the screen would be on, i could see the backlight, it would just go black and the computer would still be on but quit everything.
And more and more would when I would reboot, as soon as I hit the power button, The backlight would come on, no image, no chime, but the fans would churn like a jet engine and couldn't cut power unless battery removed.
I was about to return the item for a refund but I found a page about "this known iBook G4" logic board issue and this guy actually found the problem and how to fix it without buying a new logic board. It's not the logic board, it's just one chip on the logic board that was either designed with a flaw or such.
He describes the problem being after months/years of heating and cooling down, this one chips connectors would crack and loose contact with the logic board, causing these problems. It mainly happened when the system would heat up and the connectors would expand.
As a temp fix, he said take the bottom case off and Put a rubber shim on top of the chip and replace the case, causing slight pressure down on the chip to maintain contact. With over 600 comments and they all seemed to work for everyone, I tried it, and what do you know, it worked, so far, like a charm. It is a temp fix, who's to know how long it last, Maybe a week, maybe over a year. But the real fix is to solder the tiny connectors again to achieve a new connection. Very simple, it's more skill to disassembled the notebook itselfs as these G4 iBooks are known for the hair pulling repairs due to how they are built and assembled. I replaced the hardrive and it was over an hour job just getting in and popped it in. My old G4 Powerbook, I achieved a drive swap in 10 minutes. Hopes this helps anyone with this problem!
The link can be found here with intructions and photos to identify the problem. My iBook 1.07GHZ had the same logic board as his photos, my G4 1.33ghz is different, even though people with higher processors than 1.07 have had this problem, It mainly "effected" 800MHZ-1.07GHZ models.

Without the power button, you'll have to erase the settings to clear your phone. Or restore in iTunes.
Your phone must be functional to enter DFU.

What Mac OS X version do you have?
If you have Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard you can reinstall Mac OS X without losing your data and it should restore it to a working OS.
I presume you don't have any backups?
Btw, what method or application(s) did you use to alter the look of Mac OS X?

1st) you may want to check out griffin's ear jamz. they snap onto your ear buds (the ones that come with the ipod) and make them actually comfortable and a little more lower end response.
2nd) do you really want USED ear buds..... or a pair that someone bought "never used" and is selling? because used ear buds are slightly gross.
