my dock currently looks like that.. and the areas where there are spaces on the side are my finder and trash. i know theres another finder icon but it's bugging me because the one right next to it is the finder but there isn't any icon.
i messed everything up with the candybar thing is there any way i can just delete everything and restore my dock to the way it was when i first bought it?!

I had the same issues. I just used Boxee and it's advanced calibration options to make the screen fit. Does not help anything but Boxee so your Safari still won't fit but your movies will fit. You can also control Boxee over wifi with an iOS device. Let me know if you need help with that.

Seems like it's just invisible updates (ie. behind the scenes bugfixes). I don't see any new features.
Think happy thoughts 1.05 GB of bug fixes :D

Ive been doing similar research in to this,
TRIM is basically clearing a block of information properly, which your OS doesnt do, it just deletes it from your window and allocates the block to be written over. But when this happens on an ssd it means that it takes one cycle to delete the information properly, and one cycle to write what it wants in there.
Massively affecting the speed of the unit.
And all TRIM does is make sure the block is properly empty when it should be.
It is looking like Lion is going to have TRIM support anyway, just it 'may' only be for apple ssd's but there is always a work around, even now you can get a TRIM enabler on this forum.
Plus if its just gonna be a pure boot up drive like mine, and user folder is on mechanical drives, its not really gonna be rewriting anyway, just write once and then a whole load of reading. :)
And from what i can see the ssd is an amazing upgrade, you've only got to search youtube for "mac ssd bootup" and you'll see all sorts geeks showing off there new ssd speeds. lol.
Anyway. hope that helps.

Have you always got them or is this a new thing? Perhaps you have new shoes or a new carpet? Or is it especially dry weather? YOU could be building up static charge and discharging it on any grounded object!

Thanks to everyone who helped out with Macrumors event coverage.
MudBug => Provided IRC transcripts
jammerb => Provided Satellite Feed for the website updates
Knox => IRC coordination/bot management
Mr. Anderson, Eyelikeart, AmbitiousLemon, Rower_CPU => Moderating these forums during this busy time
Sparkleytone,Shadow95 => IRC moderation
Some useless stats:
- ~1500 people were on IRC across 3 channels for the event coverage.
- The Keynote coverage page was loaded over 860,000 times yesterday.
- Forums hit a new record of 2652 users on at once. (and we didn't crash :) )

Thanks, I read somewhere that the difference between recovery mode and DFU mode is iboot, and iboot blocks a restore unless it higher than what you currently have, but iboot doesn't run in DFU mode.
I'll try some more to see what I can do, but the last few times I tried shift + restore with 3.1.3 it didn't succeed (I'm using tiny umbrella to exit recovery mode at the end too)

why? are you the official Adobe snitch?
I was only joking - but as it happens, I don't like the idea that someone has downloaded 1200 worth of software for free when I've paid for it

Hi
A couple of options come to mind, and the best solution I would recommend is to replace your router.
Option 1:
Purchase a device like a SonicWALL. I use them extensivly, and they have full bandwith monitoring and can even traffic throttle certain speed hogging applications. Not terribly complicated to setup, but understanding of networking protocals helps.
This guy costs around 350USD for a wireless edition. It is aimed at small business or for people who want to maximizer their traffic. I have a couple of friends who throttle Torrents and other P2P to only a max of 30% of their ISP performance. And the rest is for HTTP.
Option 2:
Purchase a linksys router and install DDWRT.
- There is bandwith usage reporting, not as advanced as the SonicWALL, but pretty good
- There is some traffic trottling capabilities, but to much.
Hope this helps somewhat. There are plenty of wiki's out their about the DDWRT solution

Migration Assistant worked fine for me. If you connect computers with an ethernet cable the transfer time is shorter.

To wrap up...
People were joining the queue at 5pm still, stocks were extremely limited by that point and only a handful of specific models remained.
Overall the queue was well over 200 growing steadily all afternoon.
Staff were great, chatty and friendly and dishing out StarBucks coffee and bottled water all afternoon
Here a quick video of the moment of the curtain drop which i saw thanks to a timely reshuffle of the queue
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT0-RKR0wF8&hd=1
I was 80th in line and managed to get everything i wanted and was out of the store and on my way home by about 5:45pm
Fairly well organised and would definitely consider going there again for a launch

My friend is running custom FW 4.01, today I tried updating him to 4.3.1 with redsn0w, so I ran it and it did what it needed to do. Go to look at the iPhone and we see nothing has changed, even when it said it was successful? So I figured we should just restore to 4.3, well I tried that and as it was verifying iPhone error 3194 popped up(and it will not let us restore). Any idea how to fix this?

What do you have the resolution set to on the Mini? The monitor is trying to tell you to set it to 1280x1024, rather than whatever it is right now.

imagemagick [id: imagemagick] (required by iretiner [id:com.dxs.iretiner])
and
animate [id: org.chronic-dev.animate] both contain /usr/bin/animate.
iretiner makes retna icons from itunesartwork for apps that don't come with them and animate animates the bootlogo.
What can be done? is there anyway i can have them both installed?
should i email saurik (creater of imagemagick)and devtem (creater of animate)? has anyone else come across this problem?

I put the screen to other iphone 3g and it works perfectly .
The weird thing is that on the old one it doesnt work only about 2 mm from left to right .
If that the case, the there is something wrong with the connector on the logic board or the board itself. Might be clean the connector first. If it not fix the problem, then try to restore it and see if it works.

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone out there knows of a place to investigate various PDA's as a friend of mine's mother want to buy her son one (he's 29 :) )but knows nothing about them, so she asked me but it's not something I really know too much about either.
He's a pc user so mac compatability isn't really needed.
Any help would be appreciated as most of the site's I've found are useless.
Thanks

I'm so sorry for my ignorance lol. I'm new to jailbreaking and thus i want to be sure. So is my method of backing up the shsh file correct? By sending it to my email? Is there any more things I would have to take note?

do shell script "osascript -e 'version of application "Application"'"
Something to this affect should work. You need to tweak the quotation marks obviously. Replace "Application" with the app you want to find the version.
