I have also put down -verbosity 9, is that correct for a3 bonus wu's. I have not received any bonus points yet?
So all up I have (-smp 8 -verbosity 9).
That looks good. I don't know how a3's work as far as when you start to get bonus points but with bigadv units you have to have 10 units finished with the passkey before you get any bonus points.

I have a Windows 7 Professional .iso file (legally obtained) on my iMac. I used the file to set up a virtual machine with virtual box, but I decided I would rather use bootcamp (or at least try it) when I burned the file to a DVD and tried to set up Bootcamp I got a message that there was no bootable disc in the drive and I had to restart the computer in the Mac partition in order to eject the DVD. Is there something special I need to do to make the DVD bootable?
This is new territory for me so apologies if I am missing something simple.

I'm looking for an app that wil demux flv files into its seperate audio and video.
Barring that, what recommendations for straight transcoding, rather than converting, to mp4? Handbrake maybe?

Appears you and I are the only ones to have watched this show.
For a pilot, it wasn't too engrossing. The acting from the lead female was pretty bad. Oh well.. I'll give this series another few looks before I give up on it.

Not sure what you mean by "special" PCI slot but you will need a Mac specific video card.

Totally damn cool! I lost count at seven though. :o
Maybe use a white background considering these are getting judged against white AFAIK, rather than the grey of the forum side panel. I don't know if you're allowed to upload two...

I guess it all depends on several factors:
1. What purpose do you have for external drives? Time Machine? Video editing?
2. Do you need it today? If so, eSATA is your only real choice until more Thunderbolt drives come to market.
3. How many drives do you need to attach externally? eSATA is one drive per connector. Thunderbolt allows for daisy-chaining drives.
4. Are you filthy rich? The first-generation Thunderbolt drives are gonna be very expensive.
Thanks for even bothering, as I can see no one else is touching this.
1>> I'm not filthy rich by any means. My show is an hour long and gobbles up around 100GB, with raw footage, intermediate renders, etc. Each issue of my magazine is 10GB, but when I shot images I am shoot RAW D2X files and downloading 10-20GB per session. So, it all adds up. I wanted to have 9TB of storage using an external eSATA enclosure. I was thinking I cold get the iMac with OWC eSATA upgrade, but then I won't have anything for back-up, right?
2>>I need 'a machine' today, but am afraid if I buy nowjudging from this site's own buying guide, which says not tothat'll I'll deeply regret it. It just looks like iMac is due out this or next month!
3>>I thought I could connect a RAID enclosure to one connector, no? I was going to have an enclosure, maybe eight or 10 drives.
4>>The big issue is my lack of exp with video. I have been doing my show for only one year and have seen my storage world go to pot, and the demands on the processor eclipse what I have. I feel like I'm in computer purgatory: I can't move to HD (timeline rendering for an hour just to see what is going on is absurd), if I buy a MP now I'll regret it.

Yeah, don't expect price drops. If they happen, they're a bonus.

I have a random question about flashes. My friend shoots Canon but I shoot Nikon. I have the SB-700 flash and was wondering if it would be possible to use my flash on his body (I think it's a T2i)? I know most of the advanced Nikon-specific features won't work, but can you use the flash in manual mode on a Canon body? Or are all the connectors for the different brands different and incompatible?

I have a verizon 327w by westell, and a dual band aebs, i want to be able to use the aebs to do all the ip adresses and be able to forward ports (not sure how to do this ?)
i guess my main question is how to do this? how do i turn my 327w into bringe mode and then make the aebs the main modem/router and just get the data from the westell?
if i do this will the ports outa the back of my westell 327w atill be active to plug stuff into?
thanks for any and all help.
i can read, and have read a few manuals but reading it, and understanding it is harder for me unless someone more experienced can break it all down for me in laymans terms.
thanks

Just a thought, but it's possible that the OP types faster than the average user, which could also explain why he's seeing lag that the rest of us don't.
