I can see the Password feature being useful to some people, but this requires you use this software continually.
The Defrag feature may be the best thing, but I guess you would need to use it every so often to maintain the drive in check. It would be interesting to see how if any actual improvement can be noticed...

I have MAC OS X Lion Developer Preview 2 installed on a partition of my hard drive, and I am a little hesitant to install it completely. I had Developer Preview 1 and there was a major audio problem.
I wanted to know if there were any major problems with DP2. If there are not, I can't wait to install it!
Thanks.

Sorry if this is an obivous question, but why is it hard to span between two externals with a Powerbook?
You can add support for a 2nd external monitor using the 15"17" PowerBooks PCMCIA slot: http://www.villagetronic.com/e_pr_vtbook.html

Hi,
Here is the problem:
I received my Powermac Quad today. The shop already installed 4 gb extra memory. (4x 1gb DDR2 Kingston).
When I started the computer for the first time, it went through al the setup screen, but the system "hang" on the last screen where I entered my personal information. After restarting the system, OSX came up.
I checked the system info and saw that the system only had 4 gb installed. The first slot of up and down where both empty. I checked inside, and saw that there ARE indeed the standard memory sims in there. ( 2 x 512 mb). They are not recognized by the system though.
There are 3 sims in the upper slots and 3 sims down, like it it is supposed to be ?!
Does anyone know what is going on here?
Kind Regards, Jochem

Patchburn said it could not detect any CD/DVD writers.
I am not using a DVD writer, just a DVD reader.

Hi guys...
So yeah. I have this old iMac G3 that has been sitting in my closet for years, it hasn't been used for over 5 years. So I turn it on yesterday after discovering all the old Mac games on Macintoshgarden, and it works! :D
The specs go as follows:
G3 333 mhz, 64 MB RAM, 6 GB HD, OS 9.2.2
If i buy two 128 MB sticks at OWC, will I be able to run any Mac game from 2001 and older just fine? The early early Mac OS X games built for 10.0-10.1 that are 3D but also compatible with OS 9 are the ones that scare me the most.

There are several scenes in Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason that shows the old style cinema display with the OSX interface. Whole bunch of multi-colored stickies adorned the display. It was leaning back quite a bit, probably to reduce reflections from the light or the camera crew.
Alias uses PowerBooks a lot in their shows, although they cover up the Apple logo with a huge red dot. :o

For laptops I think less of capacity at this point and more on performance, i.e, SSDs

... well, actually selling it to my Bro. I wanted to wipe out the iBook, and put a clean install of OS X in it, but, restore disks are nowhere to be found --- DAMN!
Question... If I were to buy OS X Panther, will those be OK? Will they allow me to do everything the original disks did (change Admin, passwords, etc.) or am I S.O.L?
I called Apple for the restore discs, and they wanted 100+ for the original discs. For OS X Jaguar?! That's insane, when I can buy OS X Panther for the same amount of money!
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, Thank You! :D

It's logical enough that Intel was considered as an alternative before Apple adopted the G5. Apple has admitted that an x86 version of Mac OS X has been maintained internally since day one.

There are a few things I would kill for:
-HDMI on the iPad
-Open-Source OS X
-A unix-based Windows 8
-An Origin PC "the Big O" Triple-Boot Hackintosh
-Jailbreakme for every release
We can dream...

Hello,
With so little info, here's my tip:
-More ram is only (significantly) useful if you max out the RAM you have.
-WD hard drives have a very good record. I have 5 2TB greens, and 1 3TB green: love them all, they are perfect for storage. Go for the blacks if you're going to boot or work off them.
Loa
thanks Loa, I have just 2gb ram! so Im thinking buy 8gb from crucial for have 10gb...
about the hds, I have 1tb black and no problems 1 or 2 years and working perfect, I read good and bad reviews of greens, but maybe is for windows users etc... I go for the 2tb green ;) I want just for store my cd collection... not for work of hard things...

While the iPhone GPS is pretty good, it can have issues in areas with narrow streets and tall building or if you car has a windshield with a metallic coating.
Unfortunately the TomTom car kit does not support an external antenna, so it will only be marginally better.
Try a free nav app like MapQuest to see if you maintain a good lock. One thing to keep in mind is that if you leave your phone in a pouch I assume it is either in your pocket or somewhere lower in the body of the car. Simply putting the phone on the dashboard can significantly improve the GPS signal.
